INOV-ART
INOV-ART ATTRACTS RECORD NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS
In its 2nd edition, the INOV-Art Programme, a Ministry of
Culture initiative coordinated by the General-Directorate for the Arts,
attracted 3169 individual applications, over a third more than the 2019
applications that were received in the previous year’s edition. Applications to
become placement organisations also increased substantially. The number of
entities registering to accept interns almost trebled, from 248 last year to 708 this year. Of these, 85% submitted their application with a prior agreement.
In the current edition, 2336 of the 3000-plus individual applications received
were deemed eligible (i.e. 75% of the total), compared with the 1525
applications that were received in last year’s edition. Design, with 21% of
individual applications, Architecture and Urbanism, with 12.5%, and Cinema and
Audiovisual, with 11%, were the disciplinary fields that attracted the highest
number of applications.
With regard to placement organisations applying to the 2nd edition, 18% operate
in the field of Architecture and Urbanism, and 14% in the area of Design. Visual
Arts, and Cinema and Audiovisual each submitted 10% of the applications.
Management of Creative Industries and Cultural Marketing were responsible for 8%
of applications, while Performing Arts submitted 5% of applications. The
percentage of applications in fields such as Writing and Editing, and Heritage
and Education Services was lower than in the fields referred to earlier.
In terms of geographical spread, 57% of the institutions applying to the 2nd
edition are based in Europe, 20% in South America, 13% in North America, 5% in
Africa, 3% in Asia and 1% in Oceania, distributed over 45 countries in 5
continents.
Applications were open from 16 November 2009 to 8 January 2010, and internships
